Welcome to the Quality Assurance & Accreditation (QA&A) department of the University of Belize!

As the national university, UB holds a critical responsibility in ensuring that the quality of our academic programs, administrative processes, and student support services meets the highest standards of excellence. Overview of the QA&A Department

The Quality Assurance & Accreditation (QA&A) Department, under the Office of the Vice President, leads the University of Belize’s efforts to uphold and elevate academic, operational, and institutional excellence. The QA&A Department designs, implements, monitors, and reviews quality assurance policies, accreditation processes, and institutional effectiveness systems to ensure that UB meets its strategic goals, complies with national and regional standards, and fulfills stakeholder expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Policy Development: Create and implement QA frameworks aligned with best practices to strengthen institutional capacity.
  2. Institutional Research: Develops and implements an institutional research agenda that is data-driven and facilitates decision making.
  3. Institutional Effectiveness: Foster a culture of excellence through institutional effectiveness mechanisms and feedback loops.
  4. Continuous Improvement: Institutionalises a culture of continuous improvement and implementation of best practices.
  5. Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and global standards.
  6. Documentation and Guidance: maintains and supports document control processes.

Quality Assurance Framework

The comprehensive framework includes policies, procedures, and ongoing self-assessment and external evaluations.

Accreditation

UB is systematically operationalizing its vision, from everyday curriculum enhancements to formally applying for regional accreditation. By embedding quality assurance into its academic and administrative systems, UB is actively transforming its status as Belize’s national university into a recognized, accredited institution fit for meaningful academic partnerships and student mobility.
