New Students

Applicants must have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 out of a 4.0 grading system from their high school or junior college. The official transcripts submitted with the application materials must verify that the applicant graduated from any four year high school recognized by the University of Belize or the Ministry of Education, or equivalent, or a U.S. regional accrediting agency.

Applicants who complete the ATLIB and obtain minimum scores of 35/50 for Math and 60/100 for English are exempt from UB placement exams. However, students scoring 59 and below for English and 34 and below for Math on the ATLIB Exam might be required to enroll in developmental courses. Students with ATLIB scores over five years old must register for UB Placement Exams.

The University will also accept the following:
  • Four passes in CXC subjects which must include English and Mathematics in the place of the ATLIB general test requirement OR
  • A combined score of 890 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). OR
  • A score of 18 on the American College Test (ACT)

Program Specific Requirements:
  • In addition to the general requirements for admission, there are several programs with specific requirements.
  • Applicants to the Bachelor’s Degree in the Nursing program must have five (5) CXCs grades 1-2 (including English, Maths, Chemistry & Biology and 1 other)
